*The New Yangnu (Foster-Daughter) Lake
Mud Volcano [ Open New Window ] Yanchao Township has the highest density of mud volcano in Taiwan. One of the standard mud volcanoes is located in Gold Mountain village. It is said that a girl was deeply in love with a young man from the same village. However, her foster mother strongly disagreed with this love relationship and forced her foster daughter to tie the knot with the brother with no blood relationship. The girl was heart broken by the separation from her lover. As a result, the lovebird committed suicide by jumping into lake as a proof of their undying love. The lake was therefore named after this story. The rumbling gushing black water is seemingly delineating this sorrowful but beautiful love story.

*The Badland topography of Sun valley
Sun Valley [ Open New Window ] Sun Valley has the most sinister topography in Yanchao Village, which is similar to that of Grand Canyon. The eroded surface of the mountain slope is unable to sustain plant growth. The severe erosion replaces the greenness on the mountain slope. The deadly barren landscape constitutes peculiar scenery. The dusk is the best time to appreciate the beauty of sunset and the desolate landscape. The soil surface contains a thin layer of magnesia and sulphate, which would reflect the silver light under the moonlight creating an illusion of living in the Moon.

*Niaosong Wetland Park
Niaosong Wetland Park [ Open New Window ] Niaosong Wetland Park is located on the eastern side of Chengching Lake entrance, right next to McDonalds. Although its measure of area is around 2 hectare only, yet it is diversified in its complete ecology ranging from swamp, pond, aquatic plants, bush, shrub, and evergreen trees. Hence it is a typical miniature wetland containing complete wetland ecology which is rare in the metropolitan city. The wetland not only is the best place to visit, but also encompasses the most precious natural resources. The cautious protection of the wetland is required so as to benefit the next generation.

*Chengching Lake
Chengcing Lake [ Open New Window ] Chengching Lake used to be called Big Shell Lake. It is distinctive in its variety of touring sites, which lure millions of tourists to appreciate the magnificent nature of lake and mountain. Chengching Lake Scenic Park is one of the most famous touring sites in Taiwan. Its total measure of area is about 375 hectare, and the lake has occupied 103 hectare of the entire park. The main touring spots are spread around the lake-side road. Its breathtaking scenery not only stands out as the popular touring spot in Southern Taiwan, but also wins the name of “Taiwan Westlake”. Its beauty even outshines that of Westlake in Hangjhou, China. Chengching Lake is the best touring site for spending time with family, appreciating the lake and jogging.

*Chengching Lake Aquarium Park
Chengcing Lake Aquarium Park(entrance) [ Open New Window ] Chengching Lake possesses the beautiful views that resemble the Westlake scenery in Hangjhou. It was one of the favorite holiday places of late President Chiang Kai-shek. A secret underground command post was built in the front of Chengching Lake President Chiang’s mansion to prevent the nuclear war. After rearrangement, it has been renovated into Chengching Lake Aquarium Park with the collection of hundreds of rare ocean species. These rare ocean species are well looked after by the professionals in the park. It is absolutely novel and amusing to visit this time corridor combined with the essence of history and ocean.
